Have you thought of creating an ocean-themed child’s room? I saw this decorating idea in a library in the children’s area. They used a surfboard for a table with a bench next to it. The carpet is in sections of blue and aqua to carry out the sea theme. What a great idea that should appeal to any kid.

On the wall, they featured a pirate’s treasure map. You can find toy chests that look like a pirate’s chest also. You can carry out the sea theme with fish and turtles or continue on with the pirate accents. The paint colors and curvy lines give the feel of ocean waves. Remember, paint is one of the least expensive ways to change and update a room.

Make Your Own Pirate Treasure Map
There are a number of videos on YouTube that demonstrate how to do this. Here’s one that I thought was quite helpful and the finished results looked authentically vintage. Hang this on the wall of your pirate-themed room.
Pirate or Boat Style Beds for Children
There are even beds that look like a pirate’s ship. How cool is that! Don’t stereotype this furniture and decor as just for boys. Girls can be pirates too and like seaside themes.
